Description:

Led by Felicia Low-Jimenez, writer of Tiger Girls, and Adan Jimenez, comics editor and writer of the upcoming Xocolatl, this workshop will focus on writing for comics. We will explore the basics of the comics medium and visual storytelling, including dialogue, panelling, and layouts. Participants should come with a story in mind that they can adapt into a short comic script that they can then expand on.


*This workshop is for adults aged 16 and above.


About the Speakers:

Adan Jimenez

Adan Jimenez is a writer, translator, and prose, comics, and localization editor. He is best known as one half of AJ Low, the writing team behind the Sherlock Sam series of children's mystery books. He is the proud child of Mexican immigrant parents and became an immigrant himself when he moved to Singapore. He loves comics, LEGO, books, games (analog and video), science fiction, and food. He plays a lot of video games in his free time.


Felicia Low-Jimenez

Felicia Low-Jimenez is one half of the writing team behind the best-selling Sherlock Sam series of children’s books and the writer of the young adult fantasy comic, Tiger Girls. She is also the publisher at Difference Engine, an independent comics publisher based in Singapore. She holds an MA in Literary Theory and Asian Studies, with a focus on anime and manga, and has worked in bookselling and publishing. She believes that stories have the power to change the world.
